LESSONS FROM HISTORY

Moses narrated how the King of Moab denied the people of Israel access to pass through the King’s highway on their way to Canaan, the Promised Land (vs.14-17). Recall that Moabites who are descendants of Esau, are close relatives of the people of Israel, the descendants of his twin brother, Jacob (Genesis 36:6-8).

Read vs. 18-21 and find out the three requests Israel made to the King of Edom. He finally mobilized his army against Israel that made them use another route instead.
When confronted with stiff opposition from kindred and brethren. We should rely on God and His wisdom to lead us through than engaging in unnecessary fights and quarrels.
Do you notice that in vs.23-29. God fulfilled His Word that Aaron shall not enter the Promised Land because of his disobedience? Aaron was de-robed, replaced as High Priest and died on Mount Hor.

He was given a decent burial in v.29. Aaron’s lesson shows that God is not a respecter of person. Note from vs.20-22, though Israel had defeated mightier nations, she avoided confrontation with Edom, see reason in v. 14.

And so: We should depend on God and allow Him to lead us through this life so that we can make heaven.

PRAYER: Lord, I surrender my life to you. Please lead me and help me never to disobey you.

PRAYERS FOR THE WEEK.

Pray for Christian missionaries, that they will continue to be bold and steadfast in their work of evangelism and discipleship. Also pray that they always live a life worthy and void of offence, that the enemy will not find anything in them.
Pray that the lord will make them more fruitful and establish the works of their hands.
Pray for grace to overcome every challenge facing them on the field.

Break down of the guide:

Moses recounted how the King of Moab and Edom denied the Israelites passage through their land, forcing them to take an alternative route. Despite being related to the Israelites, the King of Edom mobilized his army against them, but God led Israel through without engaging in battle. This experience teaches us to rely on God’s wisdom and leadership in the face of opposition, rather than resorting to unnecessary fights and quarrels.

Prayer for Saturday:

THANK GOD FOR OUR PLACES OF WORK AND STUDY AND FOR ALL WE HAVE LEARNT AND BEEN ABLE TO DO THIS WEEK.
COMMIT TO GOD THE WORK AND SERVICE OF THE COMING WEEK.
