ROADBLOCKS ON THE JOURNEY.
Not all roadblocks in one’s life is from Satan. They may come from the Lord. Such was the case with Balaam. We saw yesterday that God gave permission for Balaam to go with Balak’s servants but with clear instruction (see v.20). That may explain the reason the Lord sent His angel to place roadblocks on his way and was actually going to kill him.
With his heart set on the monetary reward as will become clearer as the story progresses, Balaam had already departed from God’s purpose for the journey. Still, the God who is not willing for anyone to perish gave him another chance, opening the eyes and then the mouth of a donkey to spiritual realities to which this internationally renowned “Seer” was totally blind.
Balaam fell flat on the ground in repentance. But how genuine was his repentance? May God open our spiritual eyes to perceive what His will is at any point of our lives. And when we hear Him, let us ensure to repent wholeheartedly, then follow the instruction from Him (vs.33-40).
King Balak wanted to distract Balaam from obeying God’s instruction by enticing him with great reward, but Balaam rejected them. Satan is still in the business of seducing people with glittering offers to derail them from obeying God.
And so: We should be alert in the spirit as we live our lives here on earth.
PRAYER: Lord may your spirit lead me to do your will for my life.
Break down of the guide:
Not all obstacles in life come from Satan; sometimes they are from God, as seen in the story of Balaam, where God sent an angel to block his path. Despite receiving permission from God to go with Balak’s servants, Balaam’s heart was set on personal gain, causing him to stray from God’s purpose. God gave Balaam a second chance, using a donkey to reveal spiritual realities and leading Balaam to repentance, highlighting the importance of genuine repentance and following God’s instructions. Believers must remain spiritually alert and vigilant, recognizing that Satan often uses enticing offers to distract people from obeying God.
Prayer for Wednesday:
PRAISE GOD THAT HE IS OUR CREATOR AND KING. PRAY FOR THE LEADERS OF THE NATIONS, ESPECIALLY OF YOUR OWN NATION.
